AzDPS Armed Guard Certification Course: 16hrs

Upon successful completion of this course, you will leave with confidence in your knowledge of the Arizona Revised Statutes and your ability to perform the duties required to properly represent yourself, your agency, and your client.

The AzDPS Armed Guard course builds upon the skills found in the AzDPS Guard course and on your personal experience. This course focuses on the more complex thinking on your feet required for defensive carry. This course will take you out of the comfort zone of what you think you know and present you with real-life scenarios and judgmental shooting. This is a 16-hour class not including lunch.

Focus areas within this course include:

• AZ Revised Statutes
• Drawing from a retention holster
• Accuracy with shooting the first shot
• Learning our warm-up drill
• Multi-round shots and follow-through
• Reloads and malfunctions under timed induced stress
• Judgmental shooting under timed induced stress
• Introductory movement
• Basic Principles of Executive Protection Techniques

Equipment and supplies required:

Duty Gear and Belt Required

This class requires eye and ear protection and at least 500 rounds of ammunition for the handgun you will use.

Semi-automatic pistol with three (3) magazines and spare magazine carrier

A quality strong-side holster with retention that has 2 points of contact.
