NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor Course

This 8hr hour course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, promoting, and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.

The instructor candidates will demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet, and NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course student packet.

 

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a prerequisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Before the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises which include a shooting qualification. They must be able to show the Training Counselors that they have a HIGH LEVEL of proficiency in safe gun handling. They must have attended BIT within the past 24 months. Must Have completed the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Course.

 

Equipment required: A pistol 9mm or larger full-size handgun. 200 rounds of ammunition, notebooks, pens, eye and hearing protection, and a positive attitude. Laptops or tablets are also welcome.

 

A Word Of Caution: (ANY SAFETY VIOLATIONS CAN DISQUALIFY YOU.)
Paying for and attending the course DOES NOT GUARANTEE passing and obtaining the Instructor Certification. You must pass the written exam with 90% or higher and you must pass the shooting qualification with 16/20.
